Kaivac, developers of the No-Touch Cleaning® system, has just released results of tests conducted at the ISSA/INTERCLEAN® tradeshow in Orlando comparing the effectiveness of cleaning floors with the Kaivac system versus using new, unused, high-quality microfiber floor pads.
A total of 12 tests were conducted on a test floor at the Kaivac booth. Several attendees watched the experiments and many were even asked to participate-some mopped the floors using the microfiber pads, while others used the no-touch system.
To make the testing procedure more interesting, the 500 psi Kaivac system employed for the tests was operated with no cleaning chemicals. Only fresh water was used with the no-touch machine to clean the test floor.
On the other hand, the microfiber pads used a properly diluted, popular cleaning chemical designed for floor cleaning.
Before and after each cleaning, the floors were swabbed and measurements were evaluated using an ATP monitor.
These monitors are designed to indicate the presence of 'organic' soil on a surface and are often used in the professional cleaning industry to gauge cleaning effectiveness.
The test results were revealing, especially since the Kaivac system used no cleaning chemicals. These were the key findings:
- The microfiber floor pads with cleaning chemicals removed nearly 57 percent of all organic soil on the floor based on the ATP reading
- The Kaivac no-touch system using fresh water only removed nearly 99 percent of all organic soil according to the ATP monitor.
Based on these averages, it was discovered that the microfiber mopping process left 31 times more soil on the floors than the no-touch system.
